The Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG) is extra money on top of your Cal Grant B or C that can help you afford college when you enroll full-time. If you are enrolled in 12 to 15+ units per semester (about 24 to 30+ units per academic year), you may qualify for an additional $2,596 to $10,500 per year, depending on your unit load and eligibility category.
You do not need to submit a separate SSCG application. Eligible students are automatically reviewed.
Who can qualify
To be eligible for SSCG, you must:
- Be a Cal Grant B or C recipient
- Be enrolled in at least 12 units per semester (see DSPS exception below)
- Must maintain satisfactory academic progress
- Have remaining unmet financial need
Important note about eligibility at payment time
SSCG eligibility is checked at the time of disbursement. This means:
You must meet unit and eligibility requirements when funds are scheduled to be paid.
An SSCG award may show as “offered/awarded,” but payment is not guaranteed if eligibility changes.
Student Success Completion Grants are contingent on available funding. If funding is exhausted, any remaining (undisbursed) awards will be canceled.
When SSCG is awarded and paid
SSCG is awarded around the same time your Cal Grant is awarded. Please view the Disbursements and Refunds Schedule for fall and spring Cal Grant and SSCG disbursement dates. Students who are awarded SSCG must meet the enrollment requirements and eligibility criteria at the time of disbursement. Disbursement is not guaranteed even if the award is "offered/awarded".

Taking classes at another college while attending Citrus College?
If you are attending Citrus College and another college at the same time, you may need to submit a consortium agreement if you want units taken at the other college to be considered by Citrus College as the home school for financial aid purposes. This may also affect consideration for Student Success Completion Grant enrollment levels tied to 12+ or 15+ units. Review the Consortium Agreements article for more information.
Foster Youth definition
Students who are current or former foster youth whose dependency was established or continued by the court on or after the date the student turned 13 may be eligible for the Foster Youth SSCG amount. Eligibility is determined by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC).
DSPS Students
Students enrolled in 9.00+ units who have an approved Academic Accommodation Plan (AAP) with Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) may qualify for SSCG at the 9+ unit level:
| Eligibility category | Amount per term (Fall/Spring) | Estimated annual total (Fall + Spring) |
|---|---|---|
| DSPS AAP, 9.00+ units | $1,298 | $2,596 |
