International student transfer admission is available to students who are currently studying in the United States on an F-1 visa and have an active Form I-20 issued by another U.S. school.
Students studying at institutions outside the United States are not considered transfer students and should apply through the standard international student admission process.
Who Is a Transfer Student?
You are considered a transfer student if you:
- Currently hold F-1 student status
- Have an active Form I-20 from another U.S. institution
- Plan to transfer your SEVIS record to Citrus College
Transfer students may come from:
- U.S. high schools
- Language schools
- Community colleges
- Universities
Application Requirements
Transfer students must complete all standard international student admission requirements and submit the additional transfer-related documents listed below.
Required Documents
- CCCApply International Application (to obtain a Citrus College student ID number)
- ISC Supplemental Application
- Financial Guarantee Form signed by the sponsor listed on the bank statement
- Current official bank statement (issued within the last six months)
- Health Form with a negative TB test or chest X-ray completed within the last six months
- Copy of passport
- Copy of F-1 visa
- Copy of your current or most recent Form I-20
- Official transcripts from your current or previous U.S. school
- $50 application fee (paid through the Citrus College student portal)
Financial Requirement
Transfer students must demonstrate a minimum cost of attendance (or equivalent in another currency).
Transcript Requirement
Students must submit official transcripts from their U.S. institution.
Please note:
- Transcripts must be official and submitted in a sealed envelope.
- Emailed copies are not accepted.
- Foreign high school transcripts, foreign college transcripts, and language school transcripts are not required for transfer admission.
How to Transfer Your I-20 to Citrus College
After you have been admitted to Citrus College, you must request that your current school transfer your SEVIS record to Citrus College.
Step 1: Receive Your Citrus College Acceptance Letter
The International Student Center (ISC) will review your application and issue an Acceptance Letter once you have been admitted.
Step 2: Contact Your Current School
Provide your Citrus College Acceptance Letter to the international student office at your current institution and request that they release your SEVIS record to Citrus College.
Your current school will determine your SEVIS transfer release date.
Step 3: Wait for the SEVIS Transfer
Once your current school releases your SEVIS record, Citrus College will gain access to your immigration record and can create your Transfer Form I-20.
Step 4: Receive Your Citrus College Transfer I-20
After the transfer has been completed, the ISC will issue your Citrus College Transfer I-20 and notify you when it is available.
Additional instructions will be provided by the ISC regarding how to access your new I-20.
Important Reminders
- Do not request a SEVIS transfer until you have been admitted to Citrus College.
- Maintain your F-1 status at your current school until your transfer is completed.
- Work closely with both schools to ensure your SEVIS transfer release date is scheduled appropriately.
- Students transferring within the United States typically do not need to apply for a new F-1 visa if their current visa remains valid.
