You may decline or return all or part of a disbursement of Federal Pell Grant funds and other financial aid that you are otherwise eligible to receive. You may wish to take this action if you expect to qualify for a larger Pell Grant in future years as a result of an expected transfer to a more expensive educational institution or an expected change in the student’s student aid index/expected family contribution.

Declining Federal Direct Loans or Parent PLUS Loans
At Citrus College, you have 14 calendar days from the date your federal direct loans are disbursed to your student account to cancel them. If you have already received a refund, you will be responsible for paying the loan refund back directly to Citrus College.
Here's what you need to do to cancel or reduce your loan:
- Submit the Decline of Financial Aid Form: This is the preferred method.
- OR Email financialaid@citruscollege.edu (from your Citrus College Issued Email Address): Request to reduce or cancel your Direct Loan(s).
Important points
- After 14 days, you cannot simply cancel the loan. You would need to return the loan funds directly to the loan servicer, which could involve additional fees.
