Below are the steps you need to follow to ensure a smooth application process:
1. Schedule an Appointment with a Counselor: While not mandatory, it's highly recommended that you schedule an appointment with a counselor to review your graduation application. You may also schedule an appointment with a counselor by visiting the Counseling and Advisement Center (SS Building, second floor), calling 626-914-8530, or via the online scheduler.
2. Course Substitution: If you've received approval for any course substitution, it's essential to attach the documentation to your application. Please obtain course substitution approval from the Counseling and Advisement Center.
3. Submit Your Graduation Application Online: You can submit your graduation application for Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT), AA/AS Degrees, certificates of achievement, and skill awards online. Check out the following instructional video on how to apply for graduation at Citrus College for a step-by-step guide.
4. Update Mailing Address: In case you change your mailing address after submitting your application, remember to update you address promptly with the Admissions and Records office so that your diploma is not mailed to the wrong address.
5. Name Usage: You have the option to use your chosen first, middle, and last name on your diploma(s) and on the commencement program. In addition, you may use your legal name or include nickname, previous name, a name used in the US, initials, etc. Students can abbreviate their middle name, exclude their middle name, or abbreviate their first name. Please note that a diploma is often used as a document to verify proof of graduation for employers and for immigration status changes for international students. Therefore, international students are encouraged to use their legal name for their diploma. The name you use on the graduation application will be printed on the diploma. If you would like to change the name originally submitted on the graduation application, please contact Admissions and Records. After the college has ordered diplomas from the diploma vendor, you will need to submit a duplicate diploma reorder form to change the name printed on the diploma.
6. External Credits: If you're using external credits, such as AP exams, CLEP exams, IB exams, or military credits, include the official exam scores and/or DD214 with your application submission.
7. Transcript Submission: Ensure that official transcripts from any other colleges you've attended are on file with the Admissions and Records office at the time of application.
8. Foreign Transcript Evaluation: If you've completed coursework at foreign institutions, these transcripts must be evaluated by an approved transcript evaluation service. We recommend seeking advice from a counselor before initiating the evaluation process.
9. Degree Works: We encourage you to track your progress toward degrees, certificates, and/or skill awards using Degree Works. You can find navigation guides and login instructions on the Degree Works website.
10. Catalog Requirements: All graduation requirements must be met within a single catalog. Please refer to the Citrus College Catalog for detailed requirements and information on catalog rights.
