Fall 2023 Disbursement and Refund Schedule

Financial aid is disbursed to your Citrus College student account by the end of the day and any remaining credit after applicable charges are paid on your account will be refunded to you through BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc., within 14 calendar days. Dates are subject to change without prior notice. See the anticipated disbursement date and refund dates below. 

If you are awarded a:

Federal Pell Grant

  • 1st 50% disbursed on 08/28/2023 and refunded to BankMobile Disbursements on 09/11/2023

    • Your student account credit balance will be available at the Owl Bookstore on 08/29/2023 and will remain accessible through 09/05/2023*. See below for more details.

    • This disbursement only includes classes that begin the week of 08/28/2023.

  • 2nd 50% disbursed on 11/06/2023 and refunded to BankMobile Disbursements on 11/20/2023

 NOTE: Federal Pell Grant Recalculation Freeze Date is 11/06/2023.

* If you complete your financial aid application (including required documentation) prior to the first disbursement of the fall, spring, or summer semesters, your first Federal Pell Grant disbursement (minus any fees assessed) will be sent directly to the Owl Bookstore to allow you to purchase books and supplies. Please access your Wingspan account to review your account balance. The amount you spend at the Owl Bookstore will be deducted along with any other outstanding fees on your student account from your disbursement and any credit remaining will be refunded to your refund selection preference with BankMobile Disbursements. You should review the disbursement dates in this article to see the estimated date that you should expect to receive your first refund.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

 Cal Grant** and Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG)***

**Cal Grant recipients may elect to receive the full term disbursement of their "Access" or "Books and Supplies" awards to use towards educational expenses or have it applied to any outstanding balances on your student account. By choosing the first option, Cal Grant recipients are responsible to resolve any account balances with Citrus College. Please contact the financial aid department for more information.

***Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG) is awarded and disbursed on the SAME date.  It will not appear on your financial aid offer until the disbursement date listed above.

What happens if I missed a disbursement date on the disbursement schedule or if my class hasn't started yet?

In order to be eligible for each disbursement that is scheduled, you must have completed your financial aid application and have it reviewed by the financial aid department. If you complete your file after that, your disbursement, if eligible, will be issued during one of the following makeup disbursement dates.  Any classes that start after the first week of the semester, will be disbursed AFTER the class(es) have begun.  Your financial aid will disburse for those classes on or after the date it begins.  View the schedule below for the earliest disbursement AFTER your courses begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the additional details I need to be aware of?

  • Federal Pell Grants are divided into two (2) disbursements each fall, spring, and summer semesters (depending on when your file is processed and the number of units you are in at the time of disbursement).
  • If you reduce your attendance after your first disbursement, you may end up owing money back.

  • Depending on your eligibility, if you increase your attendance status, (e.g., go from half-time to three-quarter time), you may be eligible for additional funds. Adjustments are made on or after the 10th week of the semester.

  • Summer disbursements are contingent upon remaining Federal Pell Grant eligibility and meeting the SAP standards.

  • Please refer to the financial aid terms of offer for additional financial aid information.

Why didn't I receive all my Federal Direct Loan disbursements?

  • First-time Federal Direct Loan borrowers must wait 30 days from the first day of the scheduled start date(s) of classes to receive their first disbursement. If this date does not fall on one of the scheduled disbursement dates, please refer to the Federal Direct Loan scheduled disbursement dates above for the next available dates that your loans may disburse.
  • Federal Direct Loans are disbursed once each semester. However, if you are attending only one semester of the award year, your direct subsidized and unsubsidized loan(s) will each be divided in half and paid in two disbursements. The second disbursement will be at the midpoint of the semester.
