It depends! You can only receive a Federal Pell Grant disbursement at ONE college each term.
Can I receive my Federal Pell Grant at two colleges for the same term?
No, federal regulations do not permit you to receive your Federal Pell Grant at two different colleges/universities for the SAME term. Terms are defined typically as fall, spring, and summer. Even if two colleges have different calendar start and end dates, if they both colleges identify the period of enrollment as the same term, it is not permitted.
Can I receive my Federal Pell Grant at two colleges for different terms?
Yes, this is permitted. For example, you can receive 50% of your disbursement at one college in the fall term and another 50% at another college in the spring term.
What do I do if I’m enrolled at two different colleges for Spring 2025?
You need to determine which college you would like to receive your Federal Pell Grant at. Since your Federal Pell Grant is paid based on the number of units you attend AND your EFC (Expected Family Contribution)/SAI (Student Aid Index) you should cancel your Federal Pell Grant at the college you will be enrolled in fewer units for the spring 2025 term (winter 2025 units at Citrus are considered spring 2025 units). This is because, in most cases, you’ll receive more at the college if you have completed more units for the term. You may also consider a consortium agreement between the two colleges so you can receive your maximum eligibility for the term. See article: Consortium Agreements.
How Do I Cancel My Federal Pell Grant at Citrus College?
If you would like to receive your Federal Pell Grant at another college for a specific term, you can do so by submitting a Decline of Financial Aid form to cancel your financial aid at Citrus College. If you are currently eligible to receive the California College Promise Grant (CCPG), that will not be affected if you cancel your other financial aid.
What if I do nothing?
If you don’t cancel your financial aid at either of your colleges, you may end up being paid the grant at both colleges. Federal Student Aid will notify colleges of each student that receives a Federal Pell Grant at more than one college during a given term. Citrus College will work with the other college to determine which school should cancel your Federal Pell Grant payment. You will be responsible for paying the balance back in full to the college that is required to cancel your Federal Pell Grant for the term.
